Like the fuckin’ stalker I have become for this woman, I watch Maci move around the diner for the next week. No one would have guessed how crazy and obsessive I was over some woman I don’t even know.

The worst part about this? I still don’t know shit about her. Maci has managed to stay by Amelia and Kaylie most of her training and ignores me pretty much the whole time.

I’ve walked around the strip joint next door a couple of times to make sure Gear is being nice to Gina.

Capone’s in La-La Land and loving all of the attention he is getting from the waitresses and the dancers next door.

Me? I’m too busy trying to figure out Maci. There is something going on with her and I want to know right now. The fact that I just met her two days ago and this is crazy hasn’t left my mind at all.

I want her. I want her so bad. I know she wants me, too.

Fuckin’ Kaylie had to ruin it.

“Thank you!” Maci calls out to a customer who hands her a big tip. She pockets it in her apron with a big smile on her face. She is working the tables she is getting like a damn pro.

The way she carries herself doesn’t scream waitress, though. She screams and exudes having an education.

“Where ya from, girlie?” One of the regulars, Harry, asks Maci.

Maci smiles at him with a fake smile. “I’m from a little of everywhere.”

“A pretty young girl like yourself, you must have a boyfriend.”

If I’m not mistaken, her eyes cut to me to see if I’m looking. Is she going to admit that she has a boyfriend? Does she have a boyfriend? The look in her eyes while we were in the office only proves to me that she wants some of this. She wants me just as much as I want her.

“Not really.”

My back straightens and my teeth clench. How dare she not tell him about us?

But there really isn’t an us here. We’re not much.

We’re going to be something and I’m going to make it happen.

“Fuck, prez. As I live and breathe, you gotta crush!” Maucho calls out from behind me as I sit at the counter.

I shrug him off and drain the remainder of my fifth coffee for the evening. I’m probably gonna need to piss the whole night away but I want to keep watching Maci.

“What are you doin’ here?” I ask him without taking my eyes off of Maci. I don’t give two fucks what he thinks.

“I got a call from our leak at the sherrif’s office,” he starts off.

The last thing I want to hear about is the fuck nuts Jim Edwards. Edwards has been in our back pocket for as long as I can remember. He gives us the information we need and he leaves us alone. What makes him a fuck nuts is the fact he buys a lot of our drugs.

There was a big drug bust in town a few years ago and he was the one that bought the drugs from us.
